The Cub scout section caters for boys and girls between 8 and 10½ years old. The 73rd Group has two packs.

Membership – Membership of the Packs is open to any young person who has reached their 8th birthday. They can remain a Cub until the age of 10 1/2 years, under arrangements made between the Cub Scout Leader and the Scout Troop Leader, they will normally move into the Scout Troop after their 10 1/2th birthday.
Subscriptions– The termly subscription should be brought to the first meeting of each term.
Uniform– Cubs wear the following items of uniform:
Dark Green Scout Association Cub Sweat Shirt
Red scarf with Group Badge
Navy combat trousers
Woggle (in six colour)
Black shoes for formal occasions
If the Young Person is not already a member of the Group the scarf and woggle should be purchased from the section Leader at the time of investiture. Sweat shirts and navy trousers may be purchased from a variety of suppliers please see here for more details.
Cub Activities– In addition to weekly pack meetings various other activities are arranged plus a weekend camp in the summer. The pack programme is based on a series of challenges. These are achieved by successfully participating in a range of activities under the following headings: Our Adventure Challenge Award, Our Outdoors Challenge Award, Our Skills Challenge Award, Our World Challenge Award, Personal Challenge Award, Team Leader Challenge Award and Teamwork Challenge Award.
Gaining the Challenge Awards will result in the attainment of the Chief Scout Silver Award.
Cub Scouts are also encouraged to work for Activity badges. These are designed to develop skills and knowledge in a specific activity or subject.
